The tariff reduction is designed to nurture new high-quality productive forces through scientific and technological innovation, improve public well-being, and encourage green, low-carbon development, reported state-owned media citing the commission.
China will maintain zero-tariff treatment on all tariff lines in 2025 for 43 least developed countries with which it has diplomatic ties, aiming to support their development and promote mutual benefits, as per the report.
In 2025, China will implement conventional tariff rates under 24 trade agreements with 34 countries or regions to expand its high-standard free trade network. The China-Maldives free trade agreement, effective from January 1, will reduce tariffs to zero on nearly 96 per cent of tariff lines between the two parties.
